I am in need of solid RB’s. Should I try to trade up in this years draft to snag Jeanty? Or should I stick with what I have and draft an RB at the 1.06 Half Ppr 1.5 TEP QB: Stroud, Murray, Penix RB: R. Dowdle, R. Davis, I. Guerendo, E. Wilson, S. Tucker, K. Mitchell WR: MHJ, BTJ, M. Nabers, Odunze, Ladd, A. Mitchell, J. Burton, D. Wicks, D. Douglas, D. Vele TE:J. Smith, K. Pitts, Freiermuth, N. Fant, C. Stover 2025 picks: 1.06, 1.11, 2.05, 3.06, 4.06
Yeah I know the OP doesn’t have any RBs, but he has picks… and I don’t think the price is as high as it would be if I were buying the 1.01 from you. He can offload 1 WR to get 2 premier RBs and that alone will give him a chance to win this year while also still having a very promising team for future years
Will he win, we don’t know. Only 1 team can win each year and i couldn’t tell you the last time the best team on paper won in my league. It’s actually an on going joke.. if you are 1st seed then you are screwed. Obviously that’s not true, just a point to emphasize how much luck is envolved
And that's fine if that's what you want to do but they'll be laughing at the end of the year because They won the championship And you're sitting there with just Nabers. Cause here's the point that I'm trying to make If he were to trade Nabers straight up for the 101 His team would immediately go into contention with that roster that he has. Your team wouldn't. Your team would still be sitting there with only one good player going How do I build this roster when all the wide receivers are on that guy's roster. It's a supply and demand issue and what would help if you are the team sitting trying to rebuild One good player or a bunch of shots of players or several good players?
I’m the one that has been arguing to trade now and give yourself a shot.
We have been talking so long that you arnt even arguing the same point…
You said if he could get Jeanty for just a MHJ then fine, but it wouldn’t happen and that he should build more assets before making a run. I’ve been arguing that he can make a good enough run now, even if it isn’t perfect. Just needs to acquire 2-3 decent RBs with picks and current assets
Even if it’s to get the 1.03 instead of the 1.01
The depth of this RB class is unprecedented. Many vets will be forced into retirement because there will be better younger options because of this class
He has a 106 pick and a second round pick You're not getting the young running back You're definitely not getting the stud at the 106 guaranteed. There's definitely not another running back in this draft at the class Jeanty is. Even if there was it's a long shot that you're picking them out of the entire group. again you're saying that I'm setting my value of the 101 too high All you have to do is look at what the trades have been recently for the 101 most are getting a King's ransom. And no one's giving up two stud running backs for one of his wide receivers unless they're sitting on a ton of running backs. All of these things you keep throwing out are like scenarios that might happen but are not a sure way to go about it. Yes it is all luck again I'm saying it is as well, but there are ways to make your team stack the deck that you then can proceed to be the favorite. The two stud RBs would be acquired by his picks. He trades 1 WR for an additional early pick and then drafts two stud RBs. Yes I do believe that Johnson, Hampton, Henderson, and Judkins are all studs and one will be available at the 1.06
I think some of the later guys are also studs, like Neal, Gordon II and Scattabo
He can get one of those guys with the 1.11 that he has
Will he have “THE BEST” team after all that. Probably not, but I’d bet my Net worth that it’s good enough to make playoffs
No I did not say don't trade.... I said that the 106 and only one of his players like ladd is not enough to get the 101 more than likely. I also said that his team is not one Jeanty away from competing. You literally said that if he gets Jeanty He can add another running back and he's automatically competing His team is not good enough. To push all of your chips in for the future. And if you're talking about trading for running backs then you are literally doing that. we've gone on three different topics so I was never arguing to begin with. You were telling me how I'm wrong that his team would be competing and that he could fix his roster as he went again that's mortgaging the future and if he misses he sets himself back years. And we've had two drafts were running backs were heavy like this in recent memory 17 and 2020
<@TimeJew> Yeah you could draft Jeanty and wait another year and hope to fill out the team. But that tight end room is a mess You would need somebody to emerge. That QB room is a mess, same there. Penix has the most upside there. 1 veteran RB is not putting you over the top here after getting Jeanty. I'm not going to prematurely blow my wad to chase a championship when your team isn't ready. That's how you miss your window and set yourself back. And like I said I don't think one of those wide receivers like Nabers or BTJ gets it done alone. And I don't think a player like lad and the 106 gets it done either. If the team is barren I want more to trade back from Jeanty. It's great to have one of those players but it doesn't fix your roster if it doesn't have any talent.
Above statement is yours @EskimoTribe
Starting at <timejew>
@EskimoTribe yeah maybe Judkins.. and Henderson if he doesn’t go to a scheme that uses him properly.. but for the most part.. no I think they are all HITS
thank you You proved my point exactly!! And proved you wrong!! because I didn't say don't trade I said it's not getting done with just the 106 and player
And my point of the whole thing is is that you look at history and you think there's no chance whatsoever that one of these top five running backs in this draft are not a bust Even though in NFL history that would be absolutely unprecedented. But that he should trade away one of those wide receivers to get another pick which is still doing the exact same thing. It's more likely that he could trade away one of those wide receivers for maybe a four or a five but no one if they're rebuilding and they have any sense in their heads would take one of those low end wide receivers on his team not on everyone's team and go I'm going to take that and we're good
This RB class isn’t a typical class. Just like last years WR class wasn’t typical.
There are years with many hits at a position. Look at the CMC year.
Agreed You seem to think that this is some sort of an argument that like it's not. But again we've had two years within recent memory of running back heavy drafts like this It didn't change the landscape It added some good running backs most of them faded into obscurity with one generational guy.
Yes I know That's the 2017 season I was referring to
